Who we are and what we do
The University of Cape Town (UCT) is South Africa's oldest university, and
one of Africa's leading teaching and research institutions. Through its Health
Sciences Faculty, UCT is closely linked to the Groote Schuur Hospital, site of
the world’s first human heart transplant. UCT is one of few institutions
internationally to offer a programme in Healthcare Technology Management
(HTM). This programme, with the support of national, regional and
international stakeholders, seeks to build capacity and broaden
competencies against a background of increasing acceptance that proper
life-cycle management of cost-effective technologies is essential for the
attainment of affordable, quality, equitable and sustainable healthcare
    service delivery.

FAKT Consult for Management, Training and Technologies is a non-profit
consultancy firm which was founded in 1986 by Protestant church
development agencies to provide both them and their partner organisations
in the South with advisory services. FAKT works with non-governmental
organisations as well as with government and international development
institutions. FAKT’s expertise extends to the fields of Rural Development and
Agriculture, Management and Methodologies, Employment and Small
    Enterprise Promotion, and Technology Management.

EED Evangelischer Entwicklungsdienst (The Church Development Service)
is an association of the Protestant Churches in Germany. It was established
in 1999 and is legally registered as a non-profit organisation. EED serves
mainly as a funding agency, providing grants for projects - run by local
partners - that emphasise human and community development, and attempt
to combine poverty reduction with environmental rehabilitation. EED is a
member of the Association of World Council of Churches related to
    Development Organisations in Europe.

Bread for the World is a campaign of church-based development co-
operation of the Protestant and Free Churches in Germany. In more than
1,000 projects and programmes annually, help towards self-help is provided
to the poor in close co-operation with partner organisations in Africa, Asia
    and Latin America.
